the Best American Sports Writing - 2004 Reviewed
I was at the library the other day and picked up this book out of sheer curiosity to see what the best of the best in the sports writing business had to offer. As I took a look through the list of authors contained within the cover of this book (Let's see Paige.....Paige...(Bill) Plaschke's in the book but Woody Paige? Nope. Not in the 2004 edition.) along with the titles of the articles and was pleasnatly suprised at the variety of the articles to choose from. Articles rainged from Taxidermy, to Tony Pena, to the only Dodger to bat 1.000 in a career.
I'm still reading the book but the subjects of the stories I have read so far not only are many and varied but each one of them are deserving of being contained within this book.
Now for those of you who don't know me I'm REALLY picky and a harsh judge of books and articles as I see the large majority of books published in this day in age are complete and utter crap an, for the most part, are poorly written, fail to keep my attention, or just have endings that are the literary equivelant of a prick tease (great build up but no delivery).
